Kinetic Magazine
A fashion editorial musing on the Tim Burton film Edward Scissorhands. A major tie between the magazine and movie is the diversion from conformity. The spreads illustrate the increasing destruction of a traditional fashion magazine. This is done to depict a distain towards the gender based fashion norms set in place by mainstream fashion editorials.
To further emphasize this revolt against gender norms, the color scheme consist primarily of blue and pink. These colors are typically assigned to infants as a way to communicate to the public their biological sex. Using both these colors in cohesion with one another illuded to the idea that it is not of importance to stick to these one set of these predetermined gender roles.
To pay homage to the visual and conceptual inspiration that was derived from the movie Edward Scissorhands, the design includes a motif of stacking images in a vertical sequence to subtly reference the idea of motion and film.
